or you could try firmata (http://www.firmata.org/). the idea is that you 
upload the firmata firmware to the arduino, and everything is controlled 
from the host program rather than writing software for the 
microcontroller. the protocol is well documented, there are 
implementations for many languages, but unfortunately there's nothing 
for racket/scheme as far as i know. it would be a great task to write 
one, so we could use arduino from fluxus and racket.
