[Fluxus] samples in fluxa on OSX

Dear list,
I have a directory of X0X drums that I specifically stripped of all extra
data to make them work with fluxa under Linux. These are CD quality wave
files in mono. They work under Linux with fluxa (which can be a bit
troublesome if there are non-standard elements to the header, which is why I
had them stripped).
I transferred them to this G4 mac running Tiger using my PSP which just
acted like a USB stick for this. Fluxa, which otherwise works fine here,
gives a error like;
async loading: /Users/Kassen/Sounds/TR909/clap.wav
WAV data is compressed
on each one of them.
This makes me believe that there is some sort of issue with loading samples
in Fluxa on OSX. I'd be happy to send some example wav files if this would
help. Has anyone been able to get Fluxa to play samples under OSX at all?
I'm at a loss here; I believe it's libsndfile that should deal with loading
these and I got that one from macports, which should be fine, I assume.
Yours,
Kas.
