I think I get it. (eval ...) will do that, the obstruction isn't the lack of
a function. The obstruction is that the text in the buffers isn't available
to the code itself. If it were we could also do things like auto-completion
from the Scheme code and so on. In the future we should probably get all of
the editor and the text rendering into Scheme code. That would allow
everyone to set his/her own syntax highlighting, editing macros, custom
hotkeys and dynamic display effects... essentially anything you could want
to do with text, in the .fluxus.scm file.

I think we all agree that's a good plan, we just seem to be missing a clear
starting point.
