i don't think it would, since all the macports libs are 64-bit, and 
everything is compiled in 64-bit. i think there's a higher level 
framework called QTKit that could be used in 64-bit instead of quicktime:

so it seems we need to rewrite the video code if we want it to work in 
osx 10.6.
