[fluxus] Slow frame rate in 64-bit Ubuntu

Hi folks: I've just installed fluxus on my shiny new 64-bit machine
(especially built, purely *for* fluxus), and it's running pretty slow.
Basically, I've got an AMD64x2 4600+ CPU, 2GB RAM, and a Radeon X600 card in
there, on Ubuntu 7.04, fully
 updated and everything.
If I do something as simple as:
(build-cube)
(show-fps 1),
it comes up as about 40fps. On my Dell laptop (with a 1.6 GHz Pentium Mobile
- it's about two years old now), it flies along at about 350-400 fps. The
Dell as an M300 card in it (Radeon X300 mobile), and 1 GB of RAM.
Any ideas?
