[Fluxus] .fluxus.scm not being read on startup

Dear Fluxonians,

I recently started experimenting with Fluxus and have a couple of questions.
I'll send them in separate mails so that the threads are more easily separated.

I'm running fluxus-017 on OSX Snow Leopard (10.6.8).

Somehow my .fluxus.scm is not being read on startup. 
When I load it manually it can be executed without a hitch.

Any idea why this is the case?
