Chris;

First of all; there are now small, cheap microphones meant for voice-chat on
laptops without a internal mic. That would give you your old setup back at
less than 10 bucks. Yesterday I saw some that were about the size of half a
cigarette.

What I suggest is to take the long stereo mini-jack to 2x rca cable you
likely have in your laptop bag at all times anyway and plug it into the
humble "aux out" plugs of your amp. Unlike mics meant for chat, which focus
on the vocal range, that should give you the full audio range, both in
bandwith and spectrum.

Build in mics are great for chat where it's actually not that desirable to
have a full range but for Fluxus that means missing out on the joys of
visualising more extreme musical movements.

Then I use my CD-changer or records at home or just grab whatever signal
people listen to when elsewhere (this makes TV or pop-music quite bearable).

Yours,
Kas.
