oh, i see now. my fault. sorry.

do you mean perlin noise is slower? i know the noise functions are not
in ideal shape at the moment. it was just a quick hack to get things
going.  perlin noise calculation includes octaves and falloff, while
simplex noise is just one octave and you have to add the octaves
together by hand if you want more detail.
